If you live your life out of memory, you live out of your history. That's what once was. If you live out of your imagination, you live out of your potential. That's what can be. We need both perspectives, don't we? Soren Kierkegaard said, "learn backwards, live forward"?

Outlook Express 5.02 has usually been completely reliable for me with OS 9.2.2 on a QuickSilver G4, OS 9.2.1 on a Lombard G3 laptop, and an older version with OS 8.1 on a Performa 6300. This includes many copy/pastes of the Identities Folders from one Mac or hard drive or volume to another. The one exception involved making an alias of the Identities Folder work when I had it on a volume separate from the OE Folder. Once I learned how to do it, it worked fine.
The Identities Folder has a Main Identity Folder within which are the Messages themselves and the Database which controls the storage of the messages. This folder may be in the OE Folder, in a Documents Folder, or even in the System Folder. In any case, if you want to check things out, start by looking at the sizes of the Database and the Messages documents. If they are larger than a nominal 4 or 16 K or something like that, then the messages are there. If so, try moving the Microsoft User Data Folder which contains the Identities Folder back into the Outlook Express Folder and see what happens. Al Poulin
