Steve, I have done extensive repairs and installations on Macs and Mac printers since 1990 (just not monitors or near the monitor on AIO's). I also have the tech manual for the my iMac. Aside from discharging the CRT is there any other hang ups to installing a replacement part? I do not have a CRT discharge tool. Also do you know the difference between the two revision analog boards for the orig. imac? Also I am getting conflicting info on what analog boards I can use. Some people say any of them from the 233, 266 and 333mhz versions and some say I have to get the exact replacement that is inside my iMac now.

Its flyback transformer is starting to break down. Eventually when it finally fails it will power on, then just as the power light should go green it will shut down. It could happen in weeks or months. BTW, the PAV board and down converter are only used on slot loading iMacs, not your tray loader.
