Greetings!

I have recently acquired a few iMacs and I am wanting to get them up and
running to be used. However, I am running into a few problems with them.
The first machine is a Tangerine, yet says a CPU speed of 233 in the system
info. I got this machine from a friend who was part swapping to make
working machines and I am guessing he put an original iMac logic board in
the machine. Is it possible to upgrade this machine to say a 333 board (or
beyond somehow?) I want to keep it in my room for web surfing and AIM, but
a bit more speed would be nice. Another problem I am having is the
tray-load CDROM is making noises and will not read CDs well. I am guessing
the firmware update might solve this problem, but I cannot for life of me
find my OS 9 CD so I have no way to install the update! (Plus I don't think
the CD drive would boot the machine off the CD anyway). Additionally, I do
have a machine with a good CD drive, but it isn't a Tangerine. Is there a
way to trade out the eject button for the proper color? I'd be willing to
swap the drives if this would fix the problem. I really want the Tangerine
machine in the room as it matches the color scheme. Finally, is there a max
memory limit for the machines? I have extra RAM and will use it if
possible.

Second, I have an iMac slot loader CD machine. It powers on, but there
is no display or chime. I am wondering if there is a common problem with
these machines and how it can be fixed. The machine doesn't have the VGA
connector like the DV models do. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris
