You know I missed that on his post. If the unit is indeed parallel only, 
then he should print a test page to verify that it really is a 4M+ and 
not a 4+. The only difference between the regular and the M series is the 
M has a postscript simm and a JetDirect card that supports Localtalk and 
Ethertalk.

If there is no JetDirect card in the printer, then whoever removed it may 
also have taken the postscript simm. Printing a test page will tell you 
which version it is regardless of what the name on the printer case says.

But even if it turns out to no longer be an M unit, he should still be 
able to print via TCP/IP to the DLink print server. He would just have to 
use PCL as the print language instead of Postscript.
