From: "Dennis B. Swaney" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Besides, why limit yourself to Apple's DRM version of AAC? You can't even play Apple AAC encoded music on all versions of iTunes; but are limited to only iTunes 4, IIRC.
Dennis:
You probably already know this, but I wanted to clarify your remark so that everyone understands: ONLY the songs you buy from the iTunes Music Store are DRM AAC.
Any songs you rip from CD and make into AACs are *not* restricted in any way. Again, I'm sure you knew that but it didn't come across in what you wrote.
You're right that older Macs (those not capable of running OS X, ie pre-1997 models) cannot listen to AAC tunes, but since most people listen to music either on their newer computer or on their iPod, both of which can play AAC no problem, I don't think this is really much of an issue. Indeed, all you have to do to play AAC tunes on an older Mac is just burn an audio CD of them, and then play the audio CD.
