Have you tried calling Apple at 1-800-SOS-APPL? If you have AppleCare, they should be able to help you without any charges. It would also save a trip to your local Apple dealer.
Do you have any media in the drive? DVD? To me, it seems like only the drive or the fan could make that much noise. - Linda Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2004 11:06:39 -0500 Subject: 20" 1.25 high-pitched whine From: Jay Boshara <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I have a 20=B2 1.25 GHz G4 iMac that I bought with AppleCare in February. Occasionally when I put it to sleep it makes a very high-pitched whining sound that is not very loud but is loud enough to drive me crazy if I am in the same room with it (it is only loud enough to hear if there=B9s no other noise in the room, which is often, since I live on a cul-de-sac). I cannot locate exactly where it is coming from, but I think it is the base rather than the screen. I just know if I take it to my local Apple authorized repairman that it will not be making the noise that day, since it only happens around 20% of the time it is asleep. Has this been a common issue with this model? Is there any easy fix? Thanks, Jay -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
