Thank you for the suggestion, Lars.  I've tried what you recommend, but for
some reason, my version of AW 6 (6.2.9, actually) doesn't seem to have the
Box to check that says "actual fonts" under preferences.  It has four
options - font smoothing, font spacing and two others, but not actual fonts.

The weird part of all this is that the AW 6 on OS 9 does display the fonts
as they  actually appear.  Yet this version, also, doesn't have an "actual
fonts" box to check under preferences.  And I still have no idea how it got
that way or how to change it one way or the other.

In desperation I've telephoned and even faxed AppleWorks Users Group to see
if they can provide me with an answer to this dilemma.  No response, so far.
I suspect they've gone away for the weekend so I'll have to wait until
Monday..
