I took the dive, opened the eMac and changed the CD for
a CD/RW, a piece of piss!!

However, the CD/RW won't allow the eMac to boot off of
a Mac OS X CD.

In Apple Info the drive shows up as supported.

Why won't it boot ?!?

P.S. Thank Apple for FW target disk mode as I was able to
install from my MDD.  :o)
