On Thursday evening I sent Carmen the following note in the hopes he would understand how the List works:

Quote the message to which you are replying, > but delete the parts of the quoted message to > which you are not replying. Only include those > relevant parts in your reply. > > 2.) When he wrote me back that he was 10 years old I apologised and continued: > I know kids have a steamlined way of chat in > chatrooms which doesn't include punctuation, > capitalization, and proper spelling, but a List > like this one does not use that kind of easygoing > chat; on this List it is more like: > > - Describe a problem and ask a question based on > that description. > - Give an solution to the problem based on the > info given in the description and question. > > See the difference? Unfortunately, Carmen has ignored *everything* which I sent in those one-on-one posts, and which was later reaffirmed by others via the List itself. I'm sorry, but this is not a kids' chatroom, and he cannot continue to treat it as such. Sending replies with no question quoted and also sending huge blocks of quoted text, but adding no information of his own is not OK. If the kid has something to add, fine, but that does not seem to be the case. If Listers want to chat with him, please do it offlist one-on-one.
