Hi Carmen!
Just a note to let you know that there is at least one person on this list that thinks you are slowly but surely getting the "hang" of it. The early barrage of difficult-to-understand posts was annoying and got some people upset, but I think that if you read and learn at the pace you're doing now, you'll be fine in no time.
My suggestion would be to pay attention to the names in the emails you get from the list, particularly those people who seem to have good rapport with you or who seem to have good rapport with the others, and learn from them. You might sometimes want to ask some of them questions off-list (ie by private email that doesn't go to the rest of us) if you think your question is not really of interest to everyone.
Some of the folks on this list are a little thrown by having someone so young around, but I don't think most of them actually dislike you, they just need some time to adjust, and you need to pick up a few tips on things like quoting (you've made progress on that, but not quite there yet) and figuring out when is the best time to chime in. That would make them happy and you'd probably find it easier to get answers to your questions that way as well.
You'll get the hang of it, don't get too discouraged.
PS. Sorry that some people thought you were a girl. Carmen is one of many names (like Chris, Francis, Sashi or Bobby/Bobbi) that could be used for either girls or boys. In the US it's a little more rare to have a boy named Carmen than a girl named Carmen, so that's why some people got confused.
