Second, thanks for not taking the current hubbub too personally. I know some of the comments might have hurt your feelings, but I'm sure that if we were all in a room together everyone would get along great! Some of the folks here have trouble dealing with kids. Ignore them, they'll ignore you, and the rest of us will do fine.
To answer your question, it takes 1,024 kilobytes (KB) to make a megabyte (MB). Sometimes people round this down to 1,000 KB to one MB -- hard drive makers are the worst about this -- but it's actually 1,024.
