Is she using the exact same settings as before? Some problems I've encountered connecting to an ftp site involve a preference setting, namely "use passive mode (PASV) for data transfers" should be UNCHECKED, even though my software (Transmit 2.2) recommends using it. Another problem was that one site requires a port number, but others do not. After getting the settings agreeable with the ftp sites, all that was needed was the correct username and password to get in. The only other thing I could suggest is trying different ftp software.
