If that's the case, my first thought would be that you have some background process that's got a memory leak (such things are, sadly, pretty common). If that was the case, your system would perform beautifully for a few days but then eventually hit a wall and get really slow/unresponsive. Usually it's some third-party menubar item or haxie, but Safari also has such a leak so if you leave it on ALL THE TIME, it will eventually cause the system to run out of operating RAM.From: Marcin Wichary <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
I don't think I said that I have to restart it daily... Weekly is more or less the case.
Sleep issues also seem to have their cause rooted in background processes, many of which most users are completely unaware of.
You can test this by leaving the machine running normally (sleeping or not) for a few days, then checking the Activity Monitor to see if anything's taking up way more processor time and/or RAM than it should be.
Somebody off-list suggested memory as a culprit. I will try to look into it. Any suggestions on how I can test it thoroughly? (I have stock 2x256 MB, it's PowerBook, by the way ;) ).
FWIW, I don't think that's the problem in this case, but IIRC the Apple Hardware Test Disc which should have come with your computer has a RAM test you can let run overnight.
