I was curious about the same thing.
Although I did find the URL interesting, and in the case that his
question was leading to the URL, I'd like to point out that the primary
issues involved at that URL would be just as easy to do on a Mac or Linux
or any other OS. The primary issues has to deal with how easy it was to
alter the data. Windows being involved just makes it easier to access the
data... but by no means would putting it on a Mac ensure that the data
would not be accessable.
That's true of PHYSICAL tampering, but trying to crack into the system remotely would be more difficult if the data was on a Mac.
Of course, I believe the actual machines (rather than the example) use Access rather than Excel, and Access is of course Windows-only (and HIDEOUSLY insecure). It's really quite astonishing to note the incompetence of people who would *deliberately* put our most important national asset -- our votes -- in the hands of such a widely-recognised non-secure program from a corporation that has been in and out of court on various mischief charges since 1996.
