Dan,

Have you tried running Disk Utility yet?  Usually between DW and Tech
Tool, most things get fixed, but can't hurt to try Apple's own tool
sometimes.

Also, I would refrain from doing any writing or deleting to the disk,
as much as possible, until you recover the missing files.  If they
were accidentally deleted or otherwise lost, you don't want the OS to
be overwriting the space that they are occupying, thinking that it is
available for use.
