Thanks. I will check out the two suggestions.
Jerry, I don't see an option "send windows friendly attachments" on 
the attachment window. Whereabouts is that?

In mail (in panther, not sure about jag) when you choose the paper clip 
at top of mail to choose a file to attach, at the bottom of the window 
as you are scrolling through "attachment" choices there is a box at 
very bottom which says "send windows friendly attachments". It may be 
just in 10.3.x though..
