Hey there folks! I work at a Fry's Electronics as a service Technician, and unfortunately I work mostly on PCs. On the occasion I get a Mac which is always fun because Macs are all I use at home! I've come to be known as the "Mac Guy" at work, and everyone from the people working on the floor to other techs come and ask me questions about macs!

Long story shot, I've got an iMac G4 in right now, and it's got an Optical drive that won't recognize CDs. It'll play and read DVDs just fine. The lady has a Warranty, from us, with it so I'm going to replace the drive no cost to her. It's a Pioneer 104 drive, and I'm going to pull either a 107 or a 108 off the shelf to throw into it. Is there any unusual or special things I need to do to get it to function properly? or can I simply swap out the drives and expect them to work? I know that the macs only really like drives from pioneer. But in all actuality I've never done this particular procedure. So any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you guys/gals so much!

 - Jonathan
