Well, I got it done, somewhat. I picked up a Samsung VCR for under $50 at the local Sears. I then fed the Audio Out to my iMic. The iMic did not include Final Vinyl, but did include a 14-day free trial of Peak LE.
I feel very very very certain that Final Vinyl IS in fact somewhere on the CD that came with the iMic, but it's also available for free download from Griffin and the usual Mac download sources.
The connector you're talking about (a twin female RCA to 1/8" male plug) comes with the iMic. No other equipment is needed -- the iMic already has the RIAA curves built into it, so Final Vinyl will be able to record direct from turntable without a preamp. I do this all the time.Griffin makes a connector in which you can plug a turntable and then connect it to an iMic or Power Wave.
