in the the imac's flatpanel monitor i want to switch off the white LED. this LED starts glowing when i put the mac to sleep, which bars me from sleeping. %-|

so, how do i disassemble the flat panel in order to pull the plug for the LED? i assume the LED connects to the main cable loop via a little plug. or is there another way to switch of the LED?

Hi Leo, iMacers, eMacers:

I don't think it's possible to turn the LED off. If you're set on disconnecting the LED, I'd recommend searching the net to find a service manual for your particular iMac so you have an understanding of how to disassemble/reassemble the display and what's necessary to disconnect it.

What I'd probably do is just to cover it up with something, like maybe a small circle cut from a self-adhesive white mailing label. This wouldn't be permanent, would be easily reversible, and wouldn't be a possible cause of damage to the display like disassembly might.
