I'm heading into a project that will require me to do a bunch of sound
file editing. I'll need to record various sounds, clean them up, edit
them, mix them, change them, and be able to use them as sound effects for
both movies, games, and live productions.
So far, everything I'm seeing that is currently on the market, and is "well rated" appears to require a G4 to run.
Since I know sound editing isn't new to the Mac, can anyone recommend a product that works with a G3?
What a good question!
I'm happy to throw what I know into the mix: For two-track, it's hard to beat Sound Studio, which I think is $50 from Felt Tip Software. You can find it at the usual mac-download suspects (versiontracker.com, macupdate.com, pure-mac.com).
A bit less elegant but a bit more powerful and multi-track is Amadeus II, available from the same places. Also worth taking a look at are Jasmine (same places), Audacity and Bias Peak/Deck/LE/DV etc. All of em work fine on a G3.
