Hey, folks!
I'm new to the iMac/eMac List (I'm on several of the other LEM
lists). I'm hoping somebody can direct me to a good take-apart manual
for my iMac 400 DV. I'm pretty sure the cooling fan is kaput and the
computer crashes after it's been left on for a while. I can't hear
the fan, either, and I used to be able to. I tried taking this thing
apart a couple of years ago, but didn't get very far. Any assistance
would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hunh? There is no fan in an iMac DV. It's a fanless design. The only
thing to make a fan like whirring noise is the hard drive or the CD
when in use. As old as an iMac 400DV is, either could be on it's way to
the happy hunting ground. You can find take apart information on the
Acellerate your Mac web iste and the MacWorld archives on their web
site, but there is no fan to replace.
