I've got the MCE CD-RW in my iMac 333 and it flat-out ROCKS.

For anybody, anywhere, nowadays looking to seriously upgrade an old iMac, I strongly recommend it. I'm burning fast-fast fast...

Anyway, when my wife's CD-ROM went out years ago, we spent $200 having a Mac tech replace it. I also spent $$$ having the guy add memory. That's the ONLY time either of our iMacs have been to a shop; I've done all of our upgrades/repairs since myself! Much cheaper that way. A CD-ROM is pretty easily available for under $100. I personally wouldn't trust a used CD-ROM myself -- expecially a 6-year-old one out of a 233.

Spend the extra money, save the hassles and heartaches and go all-out on a CD-RW -- you'll never regret it! Install it yourself, it's pretty easy.
