Indeed, such activity may be a stretch for an early
iMac. I have a G4 500 retrofitted with an
Apple-brand Superdrive and maximum RAM. Just
rendering in preparation for a DVD burn can take
forever. I would think that on a slower G3, even if
your time is only worth a few bucks an hour, it would
not be worth it. Time to think about a mini. I
understand iMac lust fully, but I would play to the
old girl's strengths. Sort of like you'd take Lindsay
Lohan to a disco and drink tequila from her FMP's
while smoking Djarums, but you'd invite Christie
Brinkley to Nantucket for a weekend of bicycling and
white wine. Does this make things clear?
