That was to be able to notify the domain administrator of the spammer, about his activities, not to send anything back to the spammer's email address. I would forward a copy of the spam to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" (using the actual domain of course.) But the general opinion seems to be right... it's not worth the effort and filtering out the garbage is an easier way to deal with it.
