Kathy,
I never took a bondi blue apart before a month ago to
replace the video card because of a bad flyback
transformer.
The flyback is the one thing that generates the high
voltage that everybody talks about.
The imac was my moms. I was on vacation at home after
doing 6 months in Afghanistan last February 04. I
notised the screen started flickering every now and
then. Thats when I remembered the word on the net
about the flyback going bad in the rev.A models,
Thats when I told her to start thinking about getting
a new computer. When it finally did die I got a
message on the answering machine. Asked her if she
backed up the documents that were on her hard drive.
naturally no.
Any way getting back to your problem.
When taking apart, watch out for the flyback tail.
the tail comes out of the top of the transformer to
the CRT side (top). It will be connected to the side
looking like a suction cup.
normal procedure would be to make sure it is
discharged before going any further.
good luck,
if you have any further questions, don't be afraid to
ask.
