1. Put your itunes folder in users/shared
And set the permissions on the folder and subordinates to Read Only for All users.
Or make your Music folder and subordinates Read Only for All users.
2. For each user, open iTunes. With settings>advanced, change the location of the iTunes folder to users:shared:iTunes
Or leave each users iTunes folder in the usual place, set iTunes to not copy the files in and then use the "Add to Library..." command on the /Users/Shared folder. This lets them keep some music private if they want and it tends to avoid some problems with sharing the files. I think it may allow for separate play lists, I'm not sure.
Some of these issues may not occur on a single machine. My experience is with shared access on a file server. As a test I once had iTunes running on six machines simultaneously, all reading music files from the server.
3. If (2) doesn't work, you may then have to have each user import users:shared:iTunes.
This worked for me!
