I have a lot of "stuff" that won't run in X, like my Laserwriter 16/600 as
well as software and files that I can not, at this point, afford to replace
if I had to go to X exclusively; and past comments have made me leery of
trying to use "classic mode" in X

As always, thanks for the help.

P.S. I you wouldn't mind, I'd still like more help deciding of a $299
upgrade to make a iMac 350 a G4 500 is worth it.

I have a LaserWriter 16/600 on my home network, which consists of a G4 iMac, Pismo, TiBook, and an iBook all running OSX, plus the occasional 5300 and 540c and even my old SE/30 running a classic OS. OSX recognizes it from Print Center. OSX supports AppleTalk, and if your router won't then the LaserWriter supports IP printing - just assign it an address and you're set.
