Hi,this weekend I attempted to install 10.3 onto my
iMac Bondi 333Mhz 256Mb Ram with firmware update 1.2.
What a frustrating task and I should have known
better, in trying to install a 21st century operating
system onto a 20th century machine!
Never really got past the 1st disk because after the
re-start the classic flashing Mac folder and question
mark.

What kind of OS X install did you attempt? Installing over a system 9 already on the Mac? Installing on a freshly formatted drive? What is the size of the HD?

So I admitted defeatdecided 'Panther' was not for this
machine and went back to 0S 9.2.2 or thought I would?!
I have now put 2 different hard drives into the Bondi
both with 0S 9 on and to no avail I just get to the
folder icon and no further. I have even done a new
install of 0S 9 on a freshly formatted hard disk both
internal and external (USB) HDD to no avail the iMac
won't boot from these HD's, yet it will from the 0S9
install CD.

Try a PRAM reset, usually the first thing to try when you get the "flashing question-mark".
