To add my two cents, be careful with the PHONO jacks, as they tend to
be amplified internally. With my Pioneer system, when I've plugged my
computer sound output into the PHONO jacks, the sound was very
distorted and loud. Using AUX, in contrast, levels were much improved.

I would imagine this varies from stereo to stereo, however. I would
start with AUX first, if you have them, work your way through the
other jacks if you must, and save PHONO for last if you have no other
choice.

Also, make sure to have your computer volume turned all the way down
first, and then raise volume levels.
