Actually, I *prefer* the slight tackiness, as it translates to better control of the mouse. Too much slickness and it becomes harder to put the mouse where you want it. But, to each their own. (FWIW, I use a MediaMate mouse pad made of a rubbery plastic; I don't think they're made anymore, but they are very easy to clean and last for ages.)
