Actually, I *prefer* the slight tackiness, as it translates to better
control of the mouse. Too much slickness and it becomes harder to put
the mouse where you want it. But, to each their own. (FWIW, I use a
MediaMate mouse pad made of a rubbery plastic; I don't think they're
made anymore, but they are very easy to clean and last for ages.)

It looks like you can actually change mousing surfaces depending on
whether you need a slicker or tackier surface at a given time. And the
price cited is very nice compared to other high-end gaming mousepads.
