I don't have a Sony remote...what happens???
On the older Macs, I've tried programming a Sony code into the TV function, and hit "Power" pointed at my Power Mac 5400, and it turned it on. There were TV Tuner kits you could order and install (Still in the OldWorld here) and use with cable/RCA-in.
