Yeah, Amber, before you erase your friend's entire drive, make sure he/she is completely OK with that. Would reopening your financial data files and altering them to the point of absurdity (and then tossing them in the Trash) be an acceptable alternative?
As a (much belated) sidenote, this isn't a very good idea. Modern Office files and, I presume, most of other office software, do not contain just your file, but also bits and pieces of older revisions. That's why at one point it was recommended to Save As... your documents once in a while to remove some of the bloat (and size), and that's why Microsoft got busted once when hackers discovered discriminating pieces in publicly available PR Word documents (such as testimonies attributed to some people written BEFORE those people were selected).
