Symantec products have been trashing OS X Macs since OS X first came
out. They never have been able to get it right, and I've heard one too
many stories about someone's system being trashed by running Symantec
crapware. So, I agree with Charles on this. For the record, I have
experience with almost every piece of Norton software on the PC side
and I am just as appalled at their lack of programming skills for PC as
well. Use of their VPN client and PCAnywhere has pushed me into the
level of "passionate hatred" of the Symantec company. Ghost is the
only thing left that they can brag about.

Okay, first problem right there. Before you do ANYTHING else, run the
Norton Installer and ask it to UNINSTALL all traces of Norton from
your hard drive. You *really really* do not want any TRACE of a
Symantec
product on any system running OS X.
