Yay! I just got my old iMac working, finally found the bracket to hold the heatsink onto the CPU, but I have a new problem. The whole time the Mac was sitting it sat next to 2 fairly large speakers and now its has some pretty hues in the screen. Although these are pleasing to look at it they get annoying when trying to make use of the iMac :) Anyone know how to degaus or possibly get rid of the marks? Should I just let it run for a while, maybe run a screen saver or something? I've heard with TV's if you sit them in the middle of the room for a while it can help.
Provided the degausser is working it activates either when plugged in or turned on. I've been messing with iMacs so long now that I've forgotten if or when it triggers. You may need to do it several times.
No reason I know of for the middle of the room idea.
