Also, the poster mentioned that he has 1.25 gig installed. That
suggests that the RAM sticks are not of equal size. I remember
seeing documentation (don't ask me where) stating that having unequal
RAM will degrade the performance. My iMac G5 has 2 512's in it and
runs fine. Got 10.4.1 on it and I do use Excel (although rarely). I
must admit though that since upgrading to 10.4, Office 2004
applications have slowed down. Do you think we'll see a patch from
Microsoft soon?
We also run 10.4 and Office 2004 on our 2 iBooks and on a dual 1 gig
Quicksilver. All three display the slowdown in Office as opposed to
when we were running it on 10.3. Personally, I think the fault lies
with Microsoft as everything else runs MUCH faster. It made me stop
using Entourage. Somehow, I don't miss it that much as I love the
improvements in the Mail app. iCal and Address Book work pretty darn
well too and since I can now sync Mac to Mac with the upgrades in
10.4 Entourage seems pretty lame to me. About the only part of
Office 2004 that I still use on a regular basis is Word...and it
doesn't seem to be afflicted with the 'slow down' as much.

of the OS to do this.... sometimes when upgrading this can be an
issue.. also... make a new user with admin authorities and try
running from there... if it is slow there then it is a preferences
issue most likely.. if it is also slow maybe you need repair
disk..also.. are you sure that .mac is not updating syncing your
account?? it works differently in Tiger....
