Hi Bill -
You should be able to take the KB apart and then be able to see what
all needs to be done. I completed a similar repair with a mouse. I
just snipped off the frayed cord, stripped the wires and then
re-soldered. This, however, requires a soldering iron, solder, etc.
If you aren't brave enough to take apart the keyboard yourself, I will
take one of mine apart and post some pictures and a how-to on my
website, if you can't find anything else.

I've got an ol' iMac keyboard that has the cableing
all frayed and all but pulled out of the point where
the cable enters the KB's rear, and sadly is unusable.
It appears that both the plastic covering and it's
inner shield have both separated there, but the very
thin colored inner wires inside seem to be unbroken.
Does anyone have a point to URL for a how to on it's
repair?, or that can explain how I may fix/repair this
easily??, so that, my HS aged son will be able to use
this KB to complete his homework due soon.
