I've just received an email containing a powerpoint presentation (pps extension). I double clicked on in hoping there'd be something in Appleworks that would load it - instead, I had a trial version of Microsoft for Mac inflicted on me - I bought an iMac because I am trying to remove all things Microsoft from my life!

I suppose Openoffice is an alternative, but is there anything native to the Mac that I should be considering?

I use NeoOffice/J, which is a Mac port of OpenOffice.org, to open .doc and .ppt files that people insist on sending me. It works well, and it's free.
