I have a 17" flatscreen iMac G4 on 10.2.6/500MB RAM. Lately, when I have
iMusic open along with a couple or other apps, everything slows down

What is "iMusic?"

I thought you must mean "iTunes" at first, but then you said it gets stuck on "random commands" which has no meaning in iTunes so you must be talking about something else. Clues?

The HD space is down to around
10GB and iMusic is stuffed with >100GB of files. Could this be a problem?

Could be, but as you've given us absolutely no indication of what you have ALREADY done to try and troubleshoot/solve the problem, it's really hard to know how to advise you. Details?

Also, I find Safari quits more often than it used to and other programs
don't like it when Acquisition is open as well.

Acquisition is one of "those" programs, used to steal stuff primarily (though of course YOU are probably using it for strictly legal purposes. Of course.). It's not surprising to me that it might be causing problems -- I have heard that the program itself relies on stolen code from another program. That's what that sort of thing gets you.

Maybe you could give it up for a while to see if things improve?

I know with my old G3/OS9,
these type of problems were indicators of a looming system crash. Any
advice would be appreciated.

My advice would be to remember to detail what you've already tried next time, if anything. Some details about your system version and what utilities you have access to would be helpful as well.
