A friend wants to upgrade from Mac OS 8.6 on his iMac slot DV to OS X
10.3 or OS X 10.4. I know he needs to do a firmware upgrade to 4.1.9
but am unsure about weather he can do the firmware upgrade from OS 8.6
or needs to upgrade to OS 9.2 to do it. Looking at
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75130 seems to indicate
so. SInce he does not plan on using either OS 8.6 or OS 9.2 is it
possible to do the upgrade from OS 8.6? I'm assuming he is going to
replace the current hard drive with a unformatted 30 Gig hard drive so
he'll need to do the firmware upgrade before replacing the drive. Any
informed info welcome please.
