Hi, Friend! I've just inherited this Tangerine iMac, with 64MB of Ram from a friend, who needs her old hard drive back. My old Rev B 233, with two 256 sticks of RAM inside, has died.
I'd like to do brain surgery on the two of them, and replace the Tangerine's 64MB of RAM and the hard drive which I need to return with the RAM and hard drive from my Rev B. First, is this feasible? Will the RAM which works (they only show up as 128MB each on the Rev B) in my old iMac work in the Tangerine? Where can I find step-by-step disassembly & re-assembly instructions for the two machines, specifically for accessing the RAM and the hard drive for each of these two machines. Also, once I install the Rev B hard drive in the Tangerine, which is faster, newer and has a DVD drive, should I reinstall the system software on each of the partitions, so that the installer will correct any differences in machine needs to meet the requirements of the new home for the hard drive in the Tangerine? The 40GB hard drive I'm bringing over now has OS X v10.2.8 and OS 9.2.1 on the first partition of 5.75GB; OS 8.6 on the second partition of 991.7MB; and OS 9.1 on the third partition, also of 991.7MB. The fourth partition has no OS. I have a copy of OS 10.3 to install. Should I try it? I really appreciate your help!
