The Lacie is a very stable drive. I do prefer the older standup units
to the newer Porsche design though, because the standup units are
housed in grey metal casing where as the Porsche units are housed in a
plastic casing which scratches where easily. Only other complaint is
the one year warranty.
2. Where can I find information on how to make the best use of an
external hard drive? For example, I would like to move all of my iTune
songs to the new drive; how do I do this? Same with iPhoto.
After formatting the drive with the disk utility program in your
utilities folder, and partitioning it the way you want open up two
finder windows, one for the destination and the other with folders you
want to move, then depress the Apple key, highlight the folder you want
to move with your mouse and drag it to the new location. You'll then
need to tell the operating programs where the folders have been moved
too.
3. Is it OK to move any application, file, etc. to the new hard drive
or will doing so slow things down too much?
Usually you can just do the same thing with applications but there is
always the exception. Better to reinstall the applications on the new
drive after deleting the original ones first.
Any specific help or references would be great.
