Hi

I have an eMac with 40GB internal drive. It is about 18 months old and had no
hardware problems til this point. I have added more RAM, a firewire HD and
upgraded the Combo Drive to a DVDRW drive about 4 months ago. It has had no
problems since then until last night.

Last night it was behaving a little slow after being on for a couple of weeks
solid, so I turned it off left it for about 10 mins and turned it back on. I
was
then presented with a flashing folder, like the old pre-OSX 'cant find blessed'
icon.

I booted from my Tiger install and went into StartUp Disc and my hard drive
wasn't there, nor in Disk Utility. Thinking my hard drive was blown or dead. I
turned it off.

Later I turned it on and everything was ok, booted as normal and been running
ever since.

Is my drive about to give up the ghost? Was it a software glitch? Do I need to
change the drive?
