I'm running Tiger and even though I remove things from the Dock
they're
still there again the next day.
How are you "removing things" from the Dock?
How can I get the Dock to only display the
things I WANT it to display? (for example, until I get more
familiar with
OSX, I don't use things like calendar, widgets, etc).
You just pull them off the Dock, and they go "poof." If you're
telling us that you've done that and they return on the next login,
your Dock preferences are damaged (or you're trying to remove them
while they're still open/active, which of course won't work). You
should repair permissions using Disk Utility.
Also, is there a way to remove the blue magnifying glass icon at
the top
right of the menu bar
There's probably SOME way, but you really don't want to. Trust me.
, and how can I easily see which applications are
running?
1. Black triangle under the app's icon in the Dock
2. Command-Tab
I really miss a simple appliacation menu like OS9. Thanks!
You'll have to trust me on this, but OS X's Dock is actually MILES
better. It's just different and that's flummoxing you for a time.
When you get acclimated to it, you'll see what I mean.
