Hi James, The slot for the Airport card sits just below the optical drive when viewing the iMac G5 from the back. It should be pretty obvious if there is a card there.
Some of the early iMac G5s did not come with Airport cards. Run the System Profiler and click on Airport to see if there is a card installed.
