I hope that this gives you some ideas.

A reinstall is almost never necessary with OS X. It's not like windows in this 
respect and is not as fragile. Hopefully the troubleshooting tips will help. 
FWIW, if this were an older install (i.e. not fresh) I would think about 
whether you have any start-up items present. In this case, a virgin install 
should have none.
