What is the OSX equivalent to holding down "shift" in OS9 to boot up with
minimal extensions? I've tried holding down Option (alt) but Tiger 10.4.3
starts up, shows the little spinning circle & apple logo, and then shuts
down after 5 minutes. I have an iMac DV/400.

Also, when I connect my external firewire disc the iMac searches the disc
for ages before I get a multi-language "Restart" message. I've updated the
LaCie firmware on the external, and I even installed OSX onto the external
to boot from and I still get the "restart" message after a few minutes.

Any suggestions please? Thanks!

Kevin
