We have a G4 iMac, running 10.2.8. I'd lke to upgrade to 10.3.x=20
something. Is that a download upgrade or does it mean purchasing
the=20
software? (sorry, I haven't kept up on this...). If purchase, can
it be=20=
done online and are there discounts? Thanks...
You must purchase a copy of Panther (10.3). Remember the rule: the
first number is 10, the second number is the major upgrade, the third
number is the minor (free) update. So for example, 10.3.9 is the
ninth free update to Panther (10.3), which was a paid upgrade from
Jaguar (10.2).
Places like Smalldog and Megamacs often sell discounted copies of
previous OSes, but bear in mind that the improvements in Tiger
(particularly to Safari, Mail and overall speed) are vast, and the
new features (Dashboard, Spotlight etc) are substantial productivity
enhancers. Tiger is well worth the money IMHO. Amazon often has it on
sale.
Cheers
Chas
