Chris,

I got the CD to eject with a paperclip.

I still had that white "command line" window open, so I just unplugged it. I'll try to repeat the steps again tomorrow. The fact that I can't select a volume that is the hard drive must mean I have a dead hard drive.

If you know of any good Web sites on replacing a hard drive, please let me know. Is there an issue with static electricity that is dangerous, or is that only with the CRT? Maybe this Ruby is worth experimenting with if it's as good as dead anyway.

Thanks again for your help.

Donald
