Suppose you have a .sit archive containing 100 files, and you need only one. You can wait for Expander to unstuff the entire thing, or you can use SD to view the archive's contents and extract only the file you need. Granted, SD is kind of pricey, but so are a lot of other useful programs (read: iLife). I have SD 10 on my OS X machine, although I don't use it as much as I used to. I had paid for DropStuff years ago, so I have been able to just buy upgrades with each version of SD. Again, I can't imagine not having it on my Classic-only machine.
