SLAP!!  Yes, exactly!!  Thanks Dan for pointing that out.  A very
important element that I omitted.  Shame on me.  Also, if you're
router/firewall won't allow you redirect from one port (external) to
another (internal), like in Dan's example, the next best thing is to
change the listening point in the 'server' software.  VNC and many
other remote administration program will allow this change from within
their configuration.  Windows Remote Desktop Connection doesn't allow
you to make the change through the GUI, but there is a registry change
that'll work.  Seems like one can't mention Windows without also
mentioning the sacred registry.  Thanks again, Dan.
